Position: Health, Safety & Systems Assistant
Reports to:  Health, Safety & Systems Manager + Directors
Key Responsibilities and Focus:  The role emphasizes the importance on the health and safety of staff, contractors, and associated personnel. Responsibilities include:

  • Implementation of Health and Safety Practices:
    • In the workshop at Whakatu and on sites in the lower North Island.
    • Delivering H&S policies, inductions, and training to ensure compliance.
  • Safety Base Administration:
    • Managing safety documentation and reports.
  • Training and Testing Organization:
    • Staff site training (e.g., Wah, EWP, First Aid, Client inductions).
    • Internal SOP staff training administration.
    • Staff and contractor inductions.
    • Elcometer PS 3 document preparation (HBSB).
    • Reporting and managing tagging and testing of assets.
    • Organizing random drug testing, flu shots, lung function testing, hearing testing, and chemical emergency training.
  • Inspections and Audits:
    • Conducting workshop inspections.
    • Performing regular site/workshop monthly audits and reporting.
  • Support Roles:
    • Covering for store personnel during absences.
    • Downloading elcometer readings and maintaining HBSB job folders in the absence of relevant managers.
    • Assisting with internal SOP updates.
    • Support Directors
  • Media Liaison:
    • Collating project information and photos for social media updates.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Successful site and office inductions.
  • Regular site visits, training, and updates.
  • Effective SOP staff training administration.
  • Assistance with HBSB tasks as identified.
  • Respected H&S advocate and implementer.
  • Keeping all PEL & HBSB asset management current.
  • High danger environment
