Position: Health, Safety & Systems Assistant
Reports to:
Health, Safety & Systems Manager + Directors
Key Responsibilities and Focus:
The role emphasizes the importance on the health and safety of staff, contractors, and associated personnel. Responsibilities include:
- Implementation of Health and Safety Practices:
- In the workshop at Whakatu and on sites in the lower North Island.
- Delivering H&S policies, inductions, and training to ensure compliance.
- Safety Base Administration:
- Managing safety documentation and reports.
- Training and Testing Organization:
- Staff site training (e.g., Wah, EWP, First Aid, Client inductions).
- Internal SOP staff training administration.
- Staff and contractor inductions.
- Elcometer PS 3 document preparation (HBSB).
- Reporting and managing tagging and testing of assets.
- Organizing random drug testing, flu shots, lung function testing, hearing testing, and chemical emergency training.
- Inspections and Audits:
- Conducting workshop inspections.
- Performing regular site/workshop monthly audits and reporting.
- Support Roles:
- Covering for store personnel during absences.
- Downloading elcometer readings and maintaining HBSB job folders in the absence of relevant managers.
- Assisting with internal SOP updates.
- Support Directors
- Media Liaison:
- Collating project information and photos for social media updates.
- Successful site and office inductions.
- Regular site visits, training, and updates.
- Effective SOP staff training administration.
- Assistance with HBSB tasks as identified.
- Respected H&S advocate and implementer.
- Keeping all PEL & HBSB asset management current.
