Our client is an internationally recognized construction contractor that undertakes large-scale and complex civil and ground engineering projects worldwide. They have a distinguished list of blue-chip clients across mining, energy, water, marine, and civil infrastructure sectors having worked on many of Australia’s largest projects. They now have a requirement for a Commercial Manager
to join their company as soon as possible with a focus on major projects, based in Perth.
About the Role
As the Commercial Manager
based in either Perth you will be a key member of the senior management team responsible for planning, delivering and managing key projects for large private and public-sector clients. You will be responsible for managing contracts and commercial teams, preparing sub-contractor and supplier agreements, identifying and mitigating risk in new projects, forecasting & reporting on concurrent projects, and overseeing claims, disputes and contractual correspondence. As Commercial Manager
your involvement may extend across multiple projects and will involve regular interaction with project teams and senior management. This company has forecast a strong lift in revenue in the next few years so this is a great time to get on board and ride this exciting period of growth. Whilst this role may appeal to a Commercial Manager
who has a proven track record at that level within large civil/construction contractors or major projects, we would also welcome applications from experienced Senior Contract Administrators with strong legal background and qualifications, who have managed commercial aspects of high-value major projects. A superb remuneration package will be on offer CIRCA $270K Base + Super
(*negotiable & based on experience), as we are looking for the “cream of the crop” for this outstanding permanent position.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction/Commercial Management, Law, Quantity Surveying
- Considerable experience in Commercial Manager roles (or Senior Contract Administrator) working for large contractors in the Australian industrial or civil construction sectors
- Minimum 5 years’ recent experience working in Australia ideally on resources/civil/industrial projects valued $100M+
- Proven experience in contract review, negotiation & management across all styles of contracts (“Hard dollar”, D&C, Cost Reimbursable, Schedule of Rates, Alliance)
- Excellent commercial acumen managing budgets and financial aspects of major projects
- Strong risk mitigation and management experience
- Proven success managing and negotiating progress claims and strong dispute resolution expertise
- Excellent all-round communication skills to liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders Lead and mentor junior staff and impart commercial knowledge to the company’s Project Managers
- Perth based with existing Australian work rights
